O2 and ttMobiles Cut Red Tape

O2 and ttMobiles, a leading mobile management service provider, have today launched a new bill-reporting tool to help firms distinguish between company and personal calls. The new service called O2 Guardian will dramatically reduce the red tape required to justify, manage and monitor personal use on mobile phones and give companies the confidence that they are compliant with new government requirements.

A new government initiative has recently been introduced to prevent companies claiming VAT on personal calls made by staff on company mobiles. Any firm failing to demonstrate measures to separately account for business and personal calls will be in breach of these rules and risk facing a detailed investigation.

For companies to get their house in order, they will now need to manually separate the two, which will take a lot of time and resource internally. To avoid this administrative headache, companies can now use O2 Guardian, a web-based application that will help companies comply with the VAT issue. O2 Guardian allows organisations to access their mobile billing information easily and at any time.

These guidelines require a massive amount of administration, but we now have a solution that can separate calls into VAT and no VAT with the click of a button. However, even though O2 Guardian will give companies confidence that they are compliant with the more restrictive VAT rules, companies also need to adopt clear policies to govern the personal use of corporate mobiles."

The billing and reporting suite comes in two web based components that enable employees to effortlessly separate their personal and business calls. O2 Guardian gives companies the ability to review user spend month-on-month, set limits and warnings on this spend and verify bills to save employees time, resource and hassle. The suite also offers alternative ways for employees to manage their mobile spend based on the company's specific needs.
